Strategy Papers

The Office for Forest and Natural Hazards makes sure that the forest can do all these things: provide a home for animals and plants, protection from natural hazards, wood as a renewable raw material, and, last but not least, a place for relaxation, sports, and adventure. It’s a real asset that should be nurtured and cared for.

To communicate this diversity in a way that’s easy to understand, the AWN produces strategy and technical papers on topics such as forest fire management, protective forests, forest biodiversity, and species conservation. Does that sound too scientific or technical? It doesn’t have to be. As well as the way the strategy papers are laid out, pictures help make complex content easy to understand.

The imagery is inspired by board games: hexagonal fields form the basis for individual landscapes and themes. When you put them together, they create a multi-layered wimmelpicture, almost like a jigsaw puzzle. The trees, shrubs, rivers and paths all overlap, showing how everything in the forest is closely connected. This shows what you might not see at first.
